Burden of Love (A new opera in one act)
"Burden of Love" is a new, original opera written by NMSU Music professor Lon Chaffin. The cast consists of NMSU students and faculty as well as local community members. The NMSU Philharmonic, directed by Jorge Martinez-Rios, will be the orchestral element of the production and the NMSU University Singers, directed by Dr. Jake Taylor, will be on stage as the chorus. The opera is directed by NMSU vocal instructor, Sarah Neely, who will also be playing one of the lead roles in the show.
