38th Annual Grant County Rolling Stones Gem and Mineral Sale
The Grant County Rolling Stones Gem & Mineral Society enthusiastically invites the public to attend our 38th Annual Gem & Mineral Show over Labor Day weekend in beautiful Silver City, New Mexico.
This great family event offers over 40 vendors, museum and educational displays, a Pebble Pup educational activity area including mining for Pecos Diamonds, daily raffles, hourly silent auction, 2 Wheels of Fortune, delicious baked goods, food and drinks, off-site field trips, and lapidary and other demonstrations.
The Rolling Stones are excited to welcome the Silver City Makers Market artists to our Annual Show. We are pleased to offer our visitors Gems, Minerals and Art together for the first time in Grant County.
The 38th Annual Gem & Mineral Show is entirely indoors in air-conditioned comfort.
SHOW DATES: Friday, September 1st from 11am-4pm, Saturday, September 2nd from 10am-5pm, and Sunday, September 3rd from 10am-4pm
FIELD TRIPS: Depart Saturday and Sunday at 9am. One is a collecting trip to Bear Mountain for pyrite and limonite crystals and the other is a historical hiking tour of the Boston Hill mining area. Specific dates TBA.
SPEAKERS:
Saturday 1:30pm: Historian Bill Cavaliere will provide a look into early mining around the west with talk "Death in the Depths."
Sunday 1pm: Paleontologist Rose Fowers will present a slide show and talk regarding her field experience during the mid-1990s excavation of a Late Pleistocene Mastodon—a native "elephant" that lived and died in central Arizona at the end of the last Ice Age.
Please leave your pets at home if it is hot outside—they will not be allowed in the venue according to County ordinance.
