Las Cruces Fire Department wants the public to be aware of potentially fraudulent telephone calls that seek monetary donations to support firefighters.
The phone calls, at least one from the 505 area code, are not authorized by the Las Cruces Fire Department or any representative of the fire department. LCFD does not seek donations in that manner.
Those who receive such is call should simply hang up without providing any personal or financial information to the caller.
Anyone who has been victimized by such a telephone, and actually lost money to such fraudulent activity, call file a report by calling police at (575) 526-0795.
