If you see an ATV traveling along City sidewalks, don’t be too alarmed, it is likely one the City of Las Cruces is using to conduct a survey of pavement conditions, and sidewalk and ADA ramp assessments on all streets inthe city.
A specialized surveying equipment called a Sidewalk Surface Tester (SST) is being used to inventory and collect sidewalk attributes (material, width, condition, and location) specifically where larger equipment is not as practical as a buggy or ATV with added safety features.
The survey is being conducted during June and July, and the City requests the public’s patience and consideration when encountering an SST.
