Authorities say a Roswell man wanted in connection with a murder in Bernalillo County now is in custody.
Roswell police say 30-year-old Ferral Martin Wheeler was taken into custody Sunday.
They say he's wanted on Bernalillo County warrants for murder and aggravated battery and a warrant from Roswell Municipal Court for failure to pay fines.
Police say Wheeler was arrested following an attempted traffic stop by an officer who recognized the driver to be the wanted man.
They say Wheeler failed to stop and sped away. He eventually fled the vehicle and ran into the yard of a residence.
Police say a SWAT team was called out and Wheeler was found hiding in the yard in tall weeds with handgun nearby.
It's unclear if Wheeler has a lawyer yet.
