Santa Fe, NM – Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced the appointment of Irene Saiz Mirabal-Counts of Alamogordo to Division I of the Otero County Magistrate Court. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Gene Galassini.
Mirabal-Counts served for more than 30 years in the public and private sector as a paralegal, security contractor, and mediator. Before going into private practice, from 2005 to 2006, Mirabal-Counts served as a mediation program director for the Otero County Magistrate Court, overseeing 30 mediators. In the Third Judicial District Court, from 2007 to 2008, she was appointed mediator for numerous domestic and parenting cases. This year, she began serving as a non-lawyer member of the New Mexico Supreme Court’s Disciplinary Board.
