Information on Missing Las Cruces Woman Sought

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Las Cruces resident Janet Castrejon who went missingJune 19 while on a camping trip with family in the Chiricahua Mountains in southern Arizona.

Castrejon, 44, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a 1988 car accident which caused partial blindness and memory loss.

Castrejon was last seen Friday, June 19, in a developed campground in Rustler Park. Castrejon was waiting for her mother outside a campground restroom. When her mother emerged from the restroom, Castrejon was gone.

Authorities with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office are unsure if Castrejon left the campground on her own or in the company of someone else. Multiple searches of the campground and Chiricahua Mountains have not produced any clues on Castrejon’s disappearance.

Her family and friends have spent countless hours searching for the woman and focusing attention on her case. A Facebook page, “Find Janet Castrejon,” has been set up to help generate leads on her disappearance and ultimately find the missing woman.

Castrejon is 5-feet-3-inches tall and weighs approximately 250 pounds. She has long dark hair that she usually wears in braids. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on Castrejon’s possible whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency or the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office at (520) 432-9500.
