Las Cruces Police Plan Youth Leadership Camp

  The Las Cruces Police Department will hold a Youth Leadership Summer Camp June 1-12 for students who will be entering the 7th grade during the next academy year.

The camp will provide youth with CPR and First Aid training, teamwork building, D.A.R.E. and DWI simulations, anti-bullying and harassment lessons and other activities similar to the Character Counts module.

The Youth Leadership Summer Camp is a collaborative effort with the Stan Fulton Endowed Chair in Education at New Mexico State University.

The camp will be held from 8 a.m. to noon June 1-12 at Lynn Middle School. Cost of the camp is $25 which includes breakfast and lunch each day. Participants are also provided with a camp T-shirt, water bottle and drawstring bag. The camp is limited to the first 60 registrants.

Parents or guardians can register students who will be entering the 7th grade next fall. Registration can be done between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the old City Hall building, 200 N. Church St. Parents or guardians should bring proof of the student’s school and grade entering the upcoming school year, the student’s T-shirt size and the $25 registration fee.

The Youth Leadership Summer Camp is limited to the first 60 registrants and registration is open throughMay 8.
