Federal agents in West Texas have seized nearly $3.5 million worth of fake items ranging from electronics to athletic shoes as part of Operation Holiday Hoax.
Officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in El Paso on Tuesday displayed some of the nearly 9,000 items confiscated in the past two months.
The El Paso Times reports agents targeted international shipments from China.
Agents intercepted shipments of fake items after they crossed the border and during inspections. Some of the seized merchandise includes knockoffs made to look like designer purses and watches, Nike shoes, Android smartphones and iPods.
