A man suspected of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend, and stealing her cell phone and keys during an August 26 incident was arrested Tuesday evening.
Jerald M. Martinez, 27, was located by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday evening and subsequently taken into custody by Las Cruces Police. Martinez was booked into theDona Ana County Detention Center on charges of kidnapping, robbery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with conditions of release.
Las Cruces Police detectives learned that Martinez forcefully prevented his ex-girlfriend from leaving her residence on Sunday, Aug. 26, and then took her keys, cell phone and a vehicle from the woman’s mother. Martinez’s whereabouts were unknown until U.S. Marshals located him Tuesday evening at a residence on the 700 block of Tamariz Court, just west of Las Cruces.
Martinez is being held on two separate bonds totally $70,000 cash.
