Las Cruces – An Anthony man wanted on charges that he beat his ex-wife in the head with a rock was arrested Wednesday morning at a Las Cruces restaurant.
Victor Filerio, 21, was wanted on numerous charges, including aggravated battery, after Dona Ana County Sheriff's investigators say he broke into the Anthony home of his ex-wife on Nov. 12, 2011.
The victim told investigators Filerio hit her in the head with a rock, attempted to strangle her, and prevented her from calling police for help.
Officers with the Las Cruces Police Department spotted Filerio at Village Inn on El Paseo in Las Cruces Wednesday morning and took him into custody.
Filerio was booked into the Do a Ana County Detention Center on charges of aggravated battery on a household member, aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and interference with communication. He is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
