Santa Fe, New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) The U.S. Forest Service is again selling permits for firewood in much of the Santa Fe National Forest because of the lifting of fire restrictions.
The agency says permits can be obtained at the forest supervisor's office in Santa Fe or at ranger district offices in northern New Mexico.
Portions of the Espanola and Jemez ranger districts remain closed because of recent wildfires near Los Alamos and Santa Fe.
The federal agency cautioned that wildfires can be started if vehicles are parked in areas with dry grass.
