Las Cruces, NM – On this edition of PUENTES a la comunidad, bridges to the community, host Emily Guerra spoke with (ALEC) American Legislative Exchange Council Chief Economist and Executive Vice President of Policy from Washington, D.C. about the 14th annual edition of “Rich States, Poor States.” The report illustrates each states’ competitiveness and economic outlook using 15 weighted policy variables and trends from past decades. In the new edition, Williams and co-authors, Arthur Laffer and Stephen Moore, found that "even through the pandemic, states that spend and tax less experience higher economic growth rates, job creation and domestic in-migration than big-government states that tax and spend more." New Mexico fell four spots, ranking 38th, lower than Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.
