President Barack Obama Endorses Ben Ray Luján in New Mexico Senate Race

Commentary:Today, PresidentBarack Obama endorsed Congressman Ben Ray Lujánto be the next U.S. Senator for New Mexico.

“I’m proud to endorse these outstanding Democratic candidates who will work to get the virus under control, rebuild the economy and the middle class, and protect Americans’ health care and pre-existing conditions protections from Republican assault,” said President Barack Obama. “They’re dedicated to shoring up and strengthening our democracy, a project that’s going to take time and require all of us—but it begins by electing Democrats right now. So give these candidates your vote—and vote early if you can, either by mail or in person.”
"I'm proud to earn the endorsement of President Barack Obama," said Ben Ray Luján. "Under his strong leadership, we passed landmark health care reform - which expanded access to affordable care and protected people with pre-existing conditions – and helped New Mexicans and Americans across the country get back to work after an economic downturn. In the Senate, I'll build off of this work and his legacy of bringing Americans together to build a better tomorrow for New Mexico."

In his endorsement of Luján and other candidates across the country, President Obama cited their work to help the country during COVID-19, protect health care for Americans, and expand economic opportunities.

He also reminded Americans the importance of voting this election and encouraged everyone who can to vote early. In New Mexico, in-person absentee votingstarts on October 6th.
