Luján Speaks at Doña Ana County Labor Day Breakfast

Commentary: Today, Democratic Senate candidate Ben Ray Luján spoke at the Democratic Party of Doña Ana County’s annual Labor Day Breakfast. This year, they honored the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees - District 1199NM for their work in the front lines of the pandemic.

"I grew up in a union family. My dad who is no longer with us was a union worker and my mom retired from public schools. There's so much work in front of us to continue to celebrate the accomplishments and work that unions have brought forth, to be able to fight for worker protections, and fight for safe wages and to make sure everyone is able to retire with respect and dignity,” said Ben Ray Luján on today’s call.

“This Labor Day – during COVID-19– let us all reflect on all the responsibilities we have and all the families that are in need. Let's all commit to come together and to work together."
Ben Ray is a proud member of a union family who understands that working people and unions built the middle class in our country. Throughout his tenure in Congress, he has fought for policies that support working people by directing investments into New Mexico and finding new ways to grow our state’s economy.

Ben Ray is endorsed by the New Mexico Federation of Labor AFL-CIO, IAFF, AFSCME, AFT, NEA, Teamsters, UAW, Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, SMART, AFGE, National Association of Letter Carriers, and the New Mexico Building and Construction Trades Council.
