KRWG News This Week- A COVID-19 discussion and the Las Cruces City Council makes history

KRWG News returns this week. Happy New Year! We start the program with a discussion on COVID-19 and the pandemic. The region has seen a dramatic rise in new cases of the virus. KC Counts talked to Dr. Dolores Gomez, with Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces to get an update.

New Mexico U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan shared his thoughts this week on the one-year anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capital. Senator Lujan continues to call for the need to pass voting rights legislation this week.

Anthony Moreno talked with Las Cruces City Councilor Tessa Abeyta-Stuve, who shared thoughts on all-women representing city council districts. The Councilor also discussed the single-use plastic bag ban in the city.

This week on television’s “Newsmakers,” we learned more about a water dispute between New Mexico and Texas. Madison Staten talked with El Paso Matters Journalist Danielle Prokop to learn the latest.

Commentator Walt Rubel shared his thoughts on the disagreement between Doña Ana County Manager Fernando Macias and County Sheriff Kim Stewart over COVID-19 work rules.
