Holloman AFB Says Security Forces Responded Wednesday Night To Alleged Incident At Main Gate

On Wednesday night, Holloman Air Force Base officials announced on the base Facebook page that the main gate to the base had to be closed Wednesday evening until further notice due to ongoing security forces and local law enforcement responding to an incident at the gate.

According to the Air Force Base’s Facebook page, multiple suspects allegedly crashed their vehicle while attempting to force their way through the gate.

Base officials said on the page “the capabilities of our personal and resources ensured that there is no further threat to the safety and security of Team Holloman.”

Holloman Air Force Base emailed a statement to KRWG News about the incident:

“At approximately 9 p.m. last night, a vehicle fleeing from U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents attempted to breach the Holloman Air Force Base main gate. 49th Wing Security Forces personnel reacted swiftly and deployed a vehicle barrier system to prevent the vehicle and suspects from getting past the gate. The suspect vehicle and a CBP vehicle in pursuit were subsequently involved in a crash.

No military personnel were injured during the incident and there were no additional threats to the safety and security of Team Holloman. This incident involves a multi-agency response and the incident is currently under investigation.” -Holloman Air Force Base, Public Affairs Office
