Governor Lujan Grisham Signs Congressional Redistricting Bill

Office of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed a bill Friday morning that updates boundaries for New Mexico’s three Congressional districts. The bill was approved by New Mexico's Legislature.

In a released statement, Governor Lujan Grisham said, “It is my duty to ratify the will of the majority here, which I believe has established a reasonable baseline for competitive federal elections, in which no one party or candidate may claim any undue advantage.”

Las Cruces Democratic State Senator Joseph Cervantes was one of the bill’s sponsors along with State Representative Georgene Louis, and State Senator Daniel Ivey-Soto.

The Governor’s office also announced Friday that Governor Lujan Grisham signed legislation to update the districts for the Public Education Commission.
