LAS CRUCES - Initially thought to be a residential structure fire on the 8000 block of Bataan Memorial in Las Cruces, at about 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, it was later upgraded to commercial fire.
No injuries were reported and no one was displaced. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Large flames were reported near a pallet factory, behind a mechanic shop. Several wood pallets and some machinery were lost to the fire, which was brought under control, within 30 minutes.
With assistance from American Medical Response and Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office, eight units and 19 personnel from the Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services responded.
