Doña Ana County Clerk to Take Step Back from the Clerk’s Office during the General Election

Dr. Amanda Lopez Askin

LAS CRUCES – Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin will again take a step back from the County Clerk’s Office beginning October 10 in an effort to honor the spirit of existing county policies that regulate the office’s employees when they are running opposed in an election.

According to the Doña Ana County Human Resources Policies and Procedures, any employee of the County Clerk's Office running opposed for any elected position that is not municipal shall take a leave of absence for 14 calendar days before the day of the applicable primary and/or general election.

As occurred in the 2020 Primary Election, Chief Deputy Clerk Lindsey Bachman will remain in the office to manage the administration of the ongoing election until the conclusion of the county canvass.
