New Horizons Symphony Concert "An Afternoon with Barbara Padilla"

Press Release for New Horizons Symphony Concert Sunday, May 22

“An Afternoon with Soprano Bárbara Padilla” will be presented by the New Horizons Symphony at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at the Atkinson Recital Hall, NMSU in Las Cruces. Music Director/Conductor Jorge Martinez-Rios will lead this exciting collaborative program. Padilla will sing many favorites including Besame Mucho, O Mio Babbino, Habanero from the opera Carmen, Granada, and Addio from Romeo and Juliet.
Bárbara Padilla is an award-winning soprano who became a household name when she received outstanding reviews for her unforgettable performances on “America’s Got Talent (AGT),” achieving First Runner Up.
AGT judge Piers Morgan stated that Bárbara’s performance was “The single greatest vocal performance we’ve ever had on America’s Got Talent...”
Ever since America’s Got Talent, Bárbara has enjoyed years of success performing with multi-Grammy Award-winning professionals such as David Foster, Juan Gabriel, Raul Di Blasio, Fernando De La Mora, Chris Botti and many more. Bárbara toured with Juan Gabriel as his featured soloist for the last two years of his life.
Bárbara is originally from Guadalajara, Mexico and is a cancer survivor of stage four Hodgkin’s disease. She regularly gives her life testimony in speaking engagements and performs at cancer fundraiser events. Bárbara earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Guadalajara and masters degree from the University of Houston Moores School of Music.
Bárbara continues to perform with prestigious symphonies and top music industry elite. She gives motivational speaking conferences and appears regularly on a variety of programs via TV, radio, podcasts, and live on stage. The orchestra will also perform the ever-popular Radetzky March by Strauss and Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair. A special treat will be provided by the Borderland Bones Trombone Quartet who will perform a few tunes. The quartet players, all members of the New Horizons Symphony, are Lynn Enright, Steve St. John, Greg Taylor and Tom Wildman.
