Members of the Mesilla Valley Jazz and Blues Society invite members of the public to join them for an evening of community and swinging tunes on Sept. 21.

MVJBS’ monthly gathering and performance will feature the popular Mesilla Valley Swing Band at 6:30 p.m. at Alma D’Arte Charter High School. Audiences can plan on enjoying a mix of jazz charts, from standards to newer compositions.

The Mesilla Valley Swing Band consists of about 16 members from Las Cruces, Deming and El Paso and is led by longtime music educator Johnny Lang.

MVJBS members and members of the public are all welcome to attend the September gathering. Music will follow a short organization update provided by MVJBS President Carol Mertensmeyer. Entry is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Tickets are available for purchase at the door or ahead of time online at www.mvjazzblues.net.
