Friends of the NMFRHM Culture Series: The Art and Science of Winemaking

Friends of the NMFRHM Culture Series: The Art and Science of Winemaking

Vintner, wine enthusiast and NMSU ACES instructor Dale Ellis will explain winemaking and the challenges faced by growers of fruit of the vine in Southern New Mexico in the final presentation of the 2025-26 season of the Friends of the Farm and Ranch Museum’s Culture Series.

At NMSU, Ellis teaches how to turn grapes into wine, as well as production economics, and marketing. His work emphasizes precise management of measurable variables while preserving the individuality of terroir. As President of the Southern Rio Grande Chapter of the New Mexico Vine and Wine Society, he contributes to regional wine leadership through professional tastings, formal evaluations, judging, and educational workshops.

The event will be on Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the Museum Auditorium. Admission is free. It will also livestream on Facebook at facebook.com/FriendsNMFRHM.
