Billy the Kid: The Ever-Changing Story
The Academy for Learning in Retirement's four-part series in March 2026 will discuss “Billy the Kid: The Ever-Changing Story.” The presenter for the sessions is Jim Smith, former high school history teacher and Teacher of the Year Awardee. His presentation dates and topics are on Tuesday, March 3, “The Historical Billy the Kid (1859-1881)”; Thursday, March 5, “The Devil's Meat and Robin Hood (1881-1930)"; Tuesday, March10, “The Rebel and the Cause (1930-1980)”; and Wednesday, March 11, “The Never-Ending Legend (1980-2026).” He will give live presentations at the Doña Ana Community College – East Mesa auditorium that will also be available as a Zoom broadcast.
Audience members may register for the Academy for Learning in Retirement’s four March sessions or for all 16 ALR Spring presentations at https://tinyurl.com/ALR-Reg. People may also register with cash or checks at the door. ALR will send announcements and Zoom links to registrants on the evening before each presentation. Zoom registrants may log in on Zoom after 10:00 a.m. and each presentation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Free coffee and cookies will be available in the nearby DACC Student Resources Building from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
