Las Cruces, NM – U.S.-owned manufacturing plants across the border in Mexico, called maquiladoras have taken a hit with intense competition from Asia and the U.S. recession. But experts say maquilas have been key to U.S.-Mexico trade relations for decades and they're not going away.

NMSU librarian and Professor Molloy Molloy has made it her mission to gather and file information and numbers from local newspaper reports on the daily count of murders in Juarez. She has created what is called the Frontera List- a detailed record of the victims including their name, age, gender and where they were killed. In part of two of the interview, she talks about patterns she sees in the tally of victims.
