SANTA FE -- Gov.-elect Michelle Lujan Grisham announced three additional cabinet appointments Wednesday at the Capitol. Here is a statement from the Governor-elect's office:
“These are highly qualified, passionate and diligent individuals,” Gov.-elect Lujan Grisham said. “They will be accountable to New Mexicans, and they will elevate each of their departments to the standard this state expects and deserves. I’m grateful they’ve chosen to do this work with me, and we’re lucky to have them.”
The governor-elect announced the following secretarial appointments:
--Bill McCamley: Department of Workforce Solutions
--Alice Liu McCoy: Department of Aging and Long-Term Services
--Jackie White: Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management
Bill McCamley
Bill McCamley has been a Las Cruces-area state representative since 2012. He has been chairman of the House Labor and Economic Development Committee, where he oversaw progress on critical issues like wage theft and increasing the minimum wage. He has been a statewide leader in job creation activities like workforce training, border trade and cannabis legalization. A graduate of both Mayfield High School and New Mexico State University, where he earned a degree in government, McCamley also graduated from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University with a master’s degree in public policy, in 2003. Born on a military base in South Korea, McCamley served as a Dona Ana County Commissioner and as executive director of the New Mexico Rural Development Council, where he worked with small communities across the state on job creation, education, and housing projects.
Alice Liu McCoy
Alice Liu McCoy is an attorney at Disability Rights New Mexico who represents New Mexicans with disabilities in systemic impact litigation, individual cases, and legislative and regulatory advocacy. McCoy has advocated on behalf of New Mexicans on guardianship issues, including serving on the Supreme Court Ad Hoc Guardianship and Conservatorship Rules and Forms Committee and the Board of the New Mexico Guardianship Association, and she has developed an expertise in Medicaid community benefits and waiver issues. McCoy has also advocated for the rights and safety of New Mexicans with mental illness, including leading a charge to urge the state to regulate and license boarding homes. A daughter of a nurse practitioner specializing in geriatric care, McCoy lives in Albuquerque with her husband, Micah McCoy, and her daughter, Betty Liu McCoy. She earned a law degree from the University of Texas in 2010 and an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University.
Jackie White
Jackie White is the captain of homeland security and emergency management of the Albuquerque Fire Department, where she has worked since 2002. Prior to that, she was the captain of fire investigations. She is a member of the Intrastate Mutual Aid System. White has managed emergency response for the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and all city-sponsored special events; her experience includes fire suppression, para-medicine, instructing cadet and paramedic programs and providing oversight for the special operation division. In those roles, she designed and implemented the use of incident action planning and plans for hostile mass-casualty incidents, including a community outreach program for teachers, students and the private sector. White served for 10 years on the New Mexico Urban Search and Rescue Team until it was disbanded two years ago. Before becoming an American citizen in 2015, she competed on the Canadian Olympic softball team from 1997 until her retirement in 2005, a span that included two Olympic Games. She graduated last year from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., with a master’s degree in homeland security.
