Industrial Waste Transformed into Art to be Featured at The Mad Hatter Gallery, Oct. 25-Nov. 26
The Mad Hatter Gallery will feature the work of El Paso/Juarez artist Serjik Leon in an exhibit, “Serjisim - The Industrial Art of Serjik Leon,” Oct. 25-Nov. 26, with an opening reception, Nov. 1, from 5PM-8PM.
The exhibit is Leon’s first exhibit in Las Cruces.
Concerned about the problem of industrial waste, and envisioning a collaboration between waste and art, Leon founded "Serjirism," an art practice dedicated to utilizing manufacturing castoffs, primarily from El Paso and Juarez, to create light boxes illuminated by LED lights and using Surface-mount Technology (SMT). Many of Leon’s light boxes are sound-reactive.
The Mad Hatter Gallery, a new contemporary art gallery in Las Cruces, NM, is located at 221 N. Main St., Suite C. The gallery’s hours are: Wed.-Fri., 11am-5pm, Sat., 10am-3pm, with extended hours on First Fridays and for other events.
