BEYOND THE VELVET CURTAIN: Music in Revolution and Evolution

The Academy for Learning in Retirement’s four-part series in September 2025 will discuss Radical Melodies, Harmonies, Orchestration and Rhythm, 1800-1940. Our presenter will be Maestro Lonnie Klein, Music Director/Conductor Emeritus, New Mexico State University. Composers featured in the series include Beethoven, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Chopin, Bernstein, Gershwin, Still and Gottschalk. Week One of the series will be held on Tuesday and Thursday starting September 2 and Week Two will be the following Tuesday and Wednesday. Dr. Klein’s in-person presentation will be at the Dona Ana Community College—East Mesa auditorium.

Audience members may register for the Academy for Learning in Retirement’s four September sessions or for all 14 Fall presentations by searching on the Web for DACC_ALR. People may also register with cash or checks at the door. Free coffee and cookies will be available in the nearby DACC Student Resources Center Building from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
