This Saturday….some local students will be working to improve their school….and community.
On Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon…two schools will be planting community gardens. Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Las Cruces Catholic School.
The project was organized by New Mexico State University College of Education professor Dr. Azadeh Osanloo, the Stan Fulton Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools.
In a KRWG-TV American Graduate profile last year, Osanloo described the project, which also took place at MacArthur Elementary and other schools in Las Cruces.
Osanloo said the gardens are one of four collaborative projects within Las Cruces Public Schools aimed at improving the lives of disenfranchised elementary school students.
Volunteers are encouraged to stop by to help with the garden project.
Once again, it’s Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Las Cruces Catholic School.
