Many Events Coming To Downtown Las Cruces

  •   Main St:

o   Vintage Hollywood Night - Friday, Oct. 16, 5 – 10 p.m.
o   SWEC Annual Gala – Saturday, Oct. 17, 6 - 10 p.m.

o   Music on Main St – Saturday, Oct. 17, 6:30 – 11 p.m.

o   Food Day -  Saturday, Oct. 17, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

o   British Car Show – City Hall Parking Lot, Sunday, Oct. 18, 9 am to 1 p.m.        

  • Farmers and Crafts Market:

o   Oct. 14 and Oct. 17, 8:30 to 1 p.m.

  • Museums and Cultural Center:

o   Branigan Cultural Center presents Coyote Tales: Wildlife Photography by Ann McMahon – exhibit open Oct. 16 thru Nov. 28
o   Museum of Nature & Science – “Prehistoric World Around You.” An exhibit on petrified wood in collaboration with NMSU’s Zuhl collection thru Jan. 2, 2016

o   Branigan Cultural Center –“Latino Americans” will run through Saturday, March 19, 2016 excluding December.

o   Museum of Nature & Science – “Evolved.” A program that makes circuits through time discussing evolution every Friday at 3 p.m.

o   Museum of Nature & Science - Nature Kids Program. The fourth Thursday of the month beginning at 9 a.m. free and open to the public and registration is not required.

o   Museum of Art & Nature and Science (SNAP) -        Encourages visitors to embrace their artistic creativity while engaging in education inspired by Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Held in the Atrium between the Museum of Art, and Nature and Science from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday.

o   Science Café is held the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Free to the public and registration is not required.

o   Museum of Nature and Science – Thursday Oct. 15 at 9 a.m., Dinosaur Train. Learn about earthquakes in collaboration with environment and trains. Come and see a small-scale demonstration of an earthquake. Children ages 3-5 and the event is free.

o   Museum of Art –Reading Art Book Club. Meeting times will be givenprior to the event and is free and open to the public.

o   Museum of Art – Spooktacular Halloween Studio Programs, Oct. 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. $20.00 for two sessions. Public is invited.

o   Las Cruces Railroad Museum –Family Game Day, 2nd Saturday of every month between 10 a.m. and noon.

o   Las Cruces Railroad Museum – Lecture series will be once a month on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Oct. 13 a talk by Ted Hamler and the title is “the 70th Anniversary of American Flyer S-Gauge Trains”.

  • Branigan Library – PLEASE NOTE FALL/WINTER HOURS SUN  1-5 p.m. and MON-THUR 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.  FRIDAY AND SATURDAY 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

§  Dona Ana County Genealogical Society 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. Scheduled for the Oct. 14 this month.

§  Paper Quilling Workshop – Thursday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m.

§  Rhythm Round-up every Friday at 10:30 a.m., music & motion for ages 2-5

§  Library Lab-Every Friday at 3:30 p.m. Stories & activities about art, science engineering & games - ages 6-9.

§  Team Anime - Every Saturday at 1 p.m. Watch an hour of anime & do a manga or other Japanese related activity for ages 12-18.

§  Reading and book signing with Carlos Melendrez, author of “America! Don’t you know me? I am you Native Son: Geronimo.
