Las Cruces Students To Clean Pauper Cemetery

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department’s After School Programs held at Hermosa Elementary and Valley View Elementary will perform community service at the Doña Ana County Pauper Cemetery on Griggs Avenue at 3 p.m. Friday, March 13.  The pauper cemetery does not have a numerical address but is east of the Doña Ana County road yard at 2025 E. Griggs Ave.

Children kindergarten through fifth grade will learn to work cooperatively with their peers. They will be exposed to the importance of community service, giving back, pride in a job well done and taking care of graves of persons less fortunate.

The children from Hermosa Elementary will walk from their school and the students from Valley View Elementary will be provided transportation. Following the cleanup, the children will be treated to snacks and will be joined by their parents.
