NMSU International Festival Comes To Las Cruces In March

New Mexico State University’s Office of International and Border Programs and various groups from the city will host the International Festival 2015 from 11 am-5 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Las Cruces Convention Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The festival offers the NMSU campus and local community an opportunity to experience different cultures from across the globe. Currently, NMSU has more than 1,300 international students from 75 countries on campus.

“This event continues to snowball. Our hope is that this event becomes truly co-sponsored by the community and the university,” said Cornell H. Menking, NMSU associate provost for international and border programs. “This year we have a very enthusiastic committee comprised of all sorts of community members. We are committed to having more food and more participation from a variety of international people in the community. It will be in a bigger section of the convention center and everything will be scaled up from last year.”

The festival will include international foods, cultural displays with native art, textiles, artifacts, photographs, music, dancing and games. Participating international students will be dressed in their native fashions.
