WINTER STORM ALERT-Friday Delays

  Las Cruces Public Schools will have a two-hour delay of all school schedules on Friday, Jan. 23.  Before-school activities and morning practices are cancelled Friday morning. All school schedules and bus schedules will be adjusted two hours later than normal. Also, Classes for the Developmentally Delayed (DD) preschool program will not be held Friday; DD preschool afternoon classes will be on a normal schedule.  Breakfast will not be served at all schools Friday morning; lunch will be served as normal. 

Jardin de los Niños in Las Cruces will open at 9:30 a.m.

Las Cruces Catholic School (Holy Cross and St. Mary's High School) will open at 10:05am Friday.

J Paul Taylor Academy will open at 10:05 am today.

La Academia Dolores Huerta will open at 10:05 this morning. 

White Sand School: 2-hour delay.Buses will run on a two-hour delay. No breakfast. Developmentally delayed preschool morning classes are cancelled. Afternoon DD preschool classes will be held as normal.

All schools In the Gadsden Independent School will start two (2) later than normal. Buses will pick up students 2 hours later than normal pick-up time. 

 NMSU Las Cruces and Dona Ana campuses will delay opening Friday until 10 am. Classes prior to 10 am will not be held. 

(UTEP) University of Texas-El Paso will open at 10 a.m.

El Paso Community College Will Open at 10 a.m.

City of Las Cruces offices will open at 10am Friday.

Dona Ana County offices will open at 10:30am Friday.

The New Mexico Department of Health's Public Health Offices in Las Cruces, Anthony, Sunland Park, Chaparral and Hatch will open at 10am Friday.

Weather permitting, City of Las Cruces Solid Waste collection vehicles will begin picking up their routes at the earliest 8 a.m. on Friday, January 23rd.  Supervisors will assess the roads early in the morning for any safety issues and may delay pick up if necessary.  Customers are asked to leave their containers out until they are serviced.

Thursday information:

Las Cruces Public Schools are dismissing early: elementary schools at 12:30pm, middle/high schools at 1:30pm.  Buses are running and lunches will be served.

Dona Ana County and Sunland Park offices, Las Cruces Catholic School, La Academia Dolores Huerta, Hatch Valley Public Schools, White Sands Missile Range and White Sands Missile Range School, The New Mexico Dept. of Health-Las Cruces Offices, Las Cruces Municipal Court, Magistrate Court, and 3rd Judicial District Court in Las Cruces are CLOSED. 

Due to adverse weather conditions, City of Las Cruces offices will close at 4 p.m. today and open at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 23. Emergency services will operate as usual.

City Manager Robert Garza reports that the Las Cruces Fire Department has four crews in four-wheel drive vehicles patrolling the city, assisting motorists. The Las Cruces Police Department is responding to vehicle crashes and patrol units are reporting on roads needing weather-related maintenance.

In addition, City street crews continue to sand and salt major roads, intersections and bridges where ice is likely to form.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution.

Due to inclement weather, the City of Las Cruces’ Juvenile Citation Program will not hold CHOICES classes or supervised community service today, January 22nd. This cancellation includes all scheduled program activities for JCP2 and JCP3.  The Citation Program staff will contact each family directly regarding changes to their child’s program schedule resulting from this cancellation.  The JCP office is open. Intake appointments scheduled for regular business hours have not been cancelled.  Please contact your Intake Specialist directly if you have questions regarding a scheduled appointment.
