Julio Martinez, assistant professor in the New Mexico State University Department of Chemical Engineering, has received a Faculty Fellowship in Israel.
Martinez will spend 10 days in Israel this summer. He will focus his time there on renewable energy research and sustainable water production, working with Hebrew University, Weizmann Institute of Science and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
“I am very excited by this unique opportunity,” Martinez said. “Israel is a vibrant and educational society. This trip will give the chance for faculties in the U.S. to interact with both aspects of the Israeli society.”
Martinez runs the Energetics and Quantum Transport Laboratory dedicated to the study and understanding of the factors that govern transport phenomena mechanisms such as heat, mass and electric-carrier transport at the quantum/nanoscale level.
Martinez said he hopes that this trip will increase exposure of his group’s work and New Mexico State University to the international community. He also said he was honored to be selected among hundreds of applicants for this experience.
The fellowship is designed for faculties in the United States to visit Israel and establish or expand research collaborations with universities and institutions in Israel. The fellowship is funded by private donors through Media Watch International, a nonprofit organization based in New York.
