The Hinchley Fire is located about 11 miles northeast of Capitan, NM, south of the Capitan Mountains Wilderness boundary, about one mile south of Summit Spring.
During a recon flight by Mescalero’s Helicopter, firefighters determined fire is currently a single snag. A USFS engine is responding to conduct full fire suppression activities.
Bear Fire, reported on 5/23/14 at 2:48 pm

Lat: 33 deg, 37 min, 18.48 sec x Long: 105 deg, 23 min, 31.91 sec
The Bear Fire is a single snag burning in the vicinity of the Hinchley Fire. Aerial recon of the fire – burning snag has burned down to the stump. The fire is located within a rock outcrop.
These lightning-caused fires are a result of last night’s lightning activity that was accompanied with little or no rain. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
