Martinez Raising Money On The East Coast For Re-Election

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez has traveled to the East Coast to raise money in New York and Pennsylvania for her re-election next year.

Martinez political adviser Jay McCleskey said fundraising is scheduled Monday in Philadelphia. Campaign events are planned Tuesday and Wednesday in New York City.

On the return trip to New Mexico, the Republican governor will stop in the oil patch community of Midland, Texas for fundraising on Thursday.

At least two Democrats have said they plan to run for governor next year — two-term Attorney General Gary King and state Sen. Linda Lopez of Albuquerque.

McCleskey said the governor's re-election campaign is paying for her travel expenses.

Lt. Gov. John Sanchez serves as acting governor when Martinez is out of the state.
