Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that helps identify the suspect who broke into an apartment Saturday morning, startling a young woman inside the home.
Las Cruces Police learned that at around 5 a.m. Saturday, July 20, a 23-year-old woman awoke to see a man entering the apartment through a window at 1130 Plain Street. The woman, who had been sleeping on a sofa, screamed and the suspect retreated without entering any further.
Police learned that the man gained access to the apartment by removing a window screen and using a metal folding chair to step through the window which had been left open.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, in his early to middle 20s with a faded haircut. The man was believed to be short in stature and was wearing a black muscle shirt.
