More Big New Mexico Pot Busts

Federal authorities say they've seized more than 450 pounds of marijuana at the Columbus port of entry and another 950 pounds of pot in five other weekend seizures at the Antelope Wells port.

They say a Mexican man was arrested in the seizure at the Columbus port.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were performing a sweep of vehicles waiting in line Saturday morning when a drug-sniffing dog alerted them to a pickup truck.

CBP officers scanned the vehicle with a "Buster" density meter and received high readings consistent with hidden contraband.

They located bundles of marijuana hidden in the floor of the cab and bed of the vehicle.

Authorities say 23-year-old Daniel Gonzalez Acosta of Nuevo Grandes, Chihuahua, was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
