A legislative committee says New Mexico's agency for licensing drivers and vehicles continues to struggle with outdated technology and staffing problems that are frustrating to the public.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the problems continue despite state efforts to revamp major parts of the Motor Vehicle Division.
The head of the agency that oversees MVD says she's working on the issues. But the vice chairman of the Legislative Finance Committee said in a story published Saturday that he's at the point of giving up on the department.
Rep. Lucky Varela told the New Mexican he doesn't know when the state will be able to put in place a system that responds to the public in a timely manner.
