As a result of the New Mexico State University Aggies 41-28 loss to the University of Texas at El Paso Miners on September 15th, the Miners’ flag will fly outside Las Cruces City Hall.
Las Cruces Mayor Ken Miyagishima and El Paso Mayor John Cook entered into a flag-waving wager over Saturday’s game. The team that won to have its flag flown in front of the opposing team’s City Hall.
“True to my word, the Miners flag will fly in front of the Las Cruces City Hall. Mayor Cook and I look forward to future Battle of I-10 contests and I know that in the near future, the Aggies flag will fly in front of the El Paso City Hall,” Miyagishima said.
The Miners flag will be raised Friday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m. and taken down at 5 p.m. Las Cruces City Hall is located at 700 N. Main St.
