Goat Awaits Owner At Las Cruces Animal Shelter

Shelter officials with the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley are caring for an adult male goat that was picked up by animal control officers Aug. 1 on the East Mesa, and are hoping his owner comes to claim him.

“Sometimes this happens,” said shelter director Dr. Beth Vesco-Mock. “We’ve had turtles brought in, rabbits, and horses. The shelter is often the last place pet owners think to look when their livestock wanders off their property.”

The goat is said to be domesticated. Shelter officials do not know how old he might be.
