Deming – A longtime New Mexico newspaper reporter on medical leave has been found dead in his home.
The Deming Headlight reports (http://bit.ly/xMBxuR) that 65-year-old Kevin Buey was found dead Thursday. Buey was on medical leave from the Headlight and rehabilitating from a medical procedure performed in September.
The Everett, Mass.-born Buey began his work at the southern New Mexico newspaper in 2000, when he took the reins to cover the local law enforcement and education beats. He also worked at the Santa Fe New Mexican, covering high school sports and at the Albuquerque Journal. He also handled feature writing and filled in for sports while at the Headlight.
Headlight Editor Billy Armendariz said Buey's death was a shock to the newsroom and would be missed.
