Las Cruces – A Las Cruces Magistrate Court judge has been disciplined by the New Mexico Supreme Court.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports (http://bit.ly/oBNnea) that an order unsealed Wednesday said that Judge Kent Wingenroth will accept a public censure and participate in a one-year supervised probation and formal mentorship.
The order does not specify the conduct cited against Wingenroth.
But Wingenroth said it involved his handling of a Juvenile Probation & Parole officer arrested for aggravated drunken driving following a charity golf tournament on Super Bowl Sunday that the judge had helped organize.
Robert S. "Rocky" Jaurequi is scheduled to be sentenced Monday in state District Court for the charge.
Wingenroth, a retired state police officer, allowed the 44-year-old to be released on his own recognizance after his arrest.
