Carlsbad Lawyer Named To District Court Judgeship

By KRWG News

Carlsbad, New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) Gov. Susana Martinez has appointed Carlsbad lawyer Lisa Riley to a vacant judgeship in southern New Mexico.

Martinez announced Wednesday that Riley will replace District Judge Thomas Rutledge, who retired last month. The Fifth Judicial District covers Chaves, Eddy and Lea counties.

Riley earned a law degree from Penn State University and received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University.

She works in a private law practice and serves as a domestic violence commissioner for Eddy and Lea counties to help handle court cases involving domestic abuse, including requests for legal orders to protect abuse victims.
