Silver City – High winds and grassy fuels have led to the spread of a wildfire that has forced the evacuations of three homes east of Silver City.
State Forestry officials say the fire has grown quickly and is currently about 5 acres.
Several homes are threatened and officials say the three homes in the path of the blaze were evacuated Monday as a precaution.
Grant County fire crews are working the fire, and officials have reached out to the U.S. Forest Service, seeking additional firefighters and resources.
No cause has been determined.
