Las Cruces Police: Woman Stabs Boyfriend After Tryst

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Police have arrested a woman who stabbed her boyfriend Sunday morning after arguing over a tryst the two had with another woman.

Sonia Soto, 23, of the 300 block of S. Almendra St., is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Las Cruces Police detectives learned that Soto and her boyfriend participated in a consensual encounter with an 18-year-old woman early Sunday morning at the couple's residence and then got into an argument afterward. The argument escalated into Soto stabbing her boyfriend with a knife.

The 26-year-old man was transported to University Medical Center of El Paso with a stab wound to his upper torso. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening injuries.

Soto left the residence after the incident but returned as police were conducting their investigation. She was arrested and transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
