Las Cruces, NM – Election Day is Tuesday and the fate of many political hopefuls will be decided.
The 2010 midterm election will produce the first female governor in New Mexico whether it be Democrat Diane Denish or Republican Susana Martinez.
All seats in the U.S and State House of Representatives are up for grabs including Southern New Mexico's second congressional district that has Incumbent Democrat Harry Teague and Republican Steve Pearce vying for the position.
Locally, Dona Ana County Commission seats for district one and three are up for election as are the same districts for Magistrate Judge Positions.
County Chief Deputy Clerk Mario Jimenez says the number of early voters has steadily increased with about five hundred to six hundred people casting votes every day.
Early voting will continue at the county building and six other locations including the Branigan Memorial Library and Sonoma Elementary School in Las Cruces. Voting will be open from eight this morning until five in the afternoon and from ten in the morning until six in the evening Saturday. On November 2nd polls will be open seven to seven.
