New Renewable Energy Plan For PNM

By KRWG News

New Mexico – A revised plan for adding more renewable energy to the portfolio of New Mexico's largest electric utility has been approved by state regulators.

The Public Regulation Commission on Tuesday approved and modified portions of PNM's renewable energy procurement plan, which calls for the addition of 22 megawatts of solar-generated power through various projects around New Mexico.

PNM says construction on the solar facilities is expected to be complete by the end of next year.

PNM, environmentalists and members of the renewable energy industry had first proposed adding 45 megawatts of utility-scale solar facilities. That was scaled back after a hearing examiner recommended the commission reject it.

Regulators also approved changes to PNM's residential and business solar incentive program.
