Las Cruces – A Las Cruces teenager could face life in prison for allegedly giving drugs to a 16-year-old girl the night before she was found dead beside him in his car.
Nineteen-year-old Zach Baker was indicted Thursday on a new charge of intentional child abuse resulting in death stemming from the January incident. A conviction on that charge carries a maximum of life in prison.
Prosecutors say Baker gave Brianna Lilley a toxic combination of cocaine, Tylenol PM and the energy drink Red Bull. Police who were searching for the girl found her dead in Baker's car in a desert area of Canutillo, Texas.
Both teens had overdosed.
Baker was originally charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
