El Paso – The University of Texas System is recalling all students, faculty and staff in seven northern Mexico states.
UT System officials said escalating violence in Mexico made necessary the recall from Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Baja California and Durango.
Less than 40 people are impacted, officials said.
System campuses also are reviewing university-sponsored programs in other countries and territories that have been the subject of travel warnings issued by the U.S. Department of State, such as Haiti, Columbia and Kenya.
